Whoever read the book and was probably also fascinated by the story might find the movie
touching, but knowing it only scatches the questions of guilt and sex on the surface, compared to the way the book does. Kate Winslet is in fact good, but I always pictured a young Hanny Schygulla
or, for example, Nina Hoss for this part.. she 'plays' german, but there are subtleties missing. On the other hand - the young guy was very convincing !
The visit in the camp, well - the movie was trying to bring up the atmosphere of being numbed by sheer imagination of horror (which is what happens once you visit a camp, even if there are little
remains). The clean, well-lit filming kept its distance, though. All in all I wasn't disappointed, but thought the film could have been much more spicy and daring.

Thank god I didn't see this movie at the theatre when it came out two or three years ago
- I knew it was light, but does it have to be this sirupy and airheady ? It works on the simple principle that you know exactly how things will go and you agree on watching the couples experience
their so-called... ah, don't even want to get into it. Prefer to wash it out quickly, aie, these situations and dialogues twisted my stomach.

Woody Allen is back to NY, and this could be another pre-his-european-cycle movie : Old
fart coming together with a young woman, existential questions thrown around in a comedy that works. Even though his people come together a bit too neatly, it's still a pleasure to watch. He makes
difficult things and writing seem easy. And that's already quite a talent.

A bit convoluted at first, the film finds its pace and its theme. Well done. I'm glad
Brad Pitt didn't get (or didn't decide to take) the main part - Russel Crowe is good in this !

Fucking whacky rockers, this movie kicks ass (no better way to describe it
:)
Philipp Seymour Hoffman as usual on top of his art.

Angels and Demons, yeah, I liked the book even less than the famous "Da Vinci Code", but the movie is -
this time - better. A classical thriller that simply 'works', a pleasure to me particularly because of a certain affinity to Rome. Tom Hanks, well, seems still very miscast as Mr. Langdon. But hey,
a fun evening.

We (Germans, particularly) have seen plenty
of these kind of well-made war movies, maybe that's why there is a certain distance to it from my part. Nina Hoss is great, though, and the movie well-done, if not a bit too perfect. I was
semi-touched.

Jerichow is a very quiet, intense drama. Everyone is very devoted to this sort of bleak story, so I watched it with the pleasure you enjoy a theatre play more than a
movie. The actor's work also keeps it just from becoming too "staged."

It took me a while to warm up to
Frost/Nixon, a) because I was tired and b) because the subject is not something I know very much about, I was 7 years old at the time. I did get cought
up in the duel between the two men, though, and the way the movie shows mass media's vicious processes in general.
